The Forbidden City at Vancouver Art Gallery

I have always wanted to come and look at the exhibits here at Vancouver Art Gallery. It was just fortunate that when I did got my Canadian Citizenship, part of the package was you get a Cultural Access Pass that will get you to lots of places in Canada for free. One of those places is the Vancouver Art Gallery...

They were featuring am exhibit called "The Forbidden City". It was a long line as it was the last day of the said exhibit but it was fun to see the things they use during that era.

La Roche Posay Anti Itch Drawing Bottle now OUT!

I was a bit busy to make an entry for quite awhile but managed to sit on the computer to put in an entry for the long awaited "La Roche Posay Lipikar Limited Edition".

My daughter tried her luck a year ago and join the "La Roche Itch Free Day Contest" with the theme of "What does an itch free day looks like?". She was really lucky to win her first national contest ever.

It was supposed to come out Fall of 2014 but with a bit of delay, it finally came out at Winter 2015. I was sort of stalking Shopper's Drug since fall and was stoked to see a cardboard sign of the Lipikar Baume Limited Edition out on the shelves. No actual bottle was out then.

...or what I call La Roche Kimi's Edition :)

I left my number at three locations asking them to call me once they are actually out. I got a call later that day and I was so excited to see that not only did we get a lotion with her drawing and a small ad cardboard but they did the works and also created a store display shelving with her drawing in a bit lotion and her picture on the other side.

* Pictues of the La Roche Cardboard Shelving

Kenzo wanted to take a photo with the actual shelving and of course, I complied happily.

* Big support from little brother

My stalking of Shopper's Drug stores actually gotten worse, going to different branches to see her lotion and I actually got a couple of these lotions to send to families and friends who wanted a souvenir of this product. It doesn't hurt that people who knew about the lotion came to me with different testimony as to how the lotion actually was what they were using because it is working well for their kids with eczema. Some came saying that the sunblock or some products front heir brand is so good.

* Kimi with her lotions

The limited edition is available at all Shopper's Drug Store across Canada. It is a limited edition so be sure to grab yours now and leave me a message here as to how you love the product. It comes in 2 sizes at a great value pack.

Science World Featuring LIGHT

This year, we decided to give the kids a Science World pass for 4 (family) to enjoy for the year.
It will be a great pass to use around when we travel as it also can be use to access different museum around the world.  List here. We actually tried our pass at Seattle's Pacific Science Center but that would be another entry.

For our first visit in Vancouver's Science World with a pass, they were featuring the exhibit LIGHT up until January 04, 2015. I am happy that within a few weeks of purchasing the family pass, we have pretty much paid up the cost of our membership. The kids can just enjoy the exhibit and I don't need to rush as I know that we can come back anytime without having to pay more entrance fees.

As for the Light Exhibit, some were already taken off but we managed to see some of the exhibit that was left until the last day of the exhibit date.

Right from the entrance, you will see this DNA welcome you, hanging from the ceiling.

* DNA Origami by the Symmetry Group
My favourite was the exhibit using packaging tape to create art and with a backlight, it was a sight to behold.

* New York Eve by Max Zorn

The Monochrome Exhibit was a bit similar but it was using light to achieve the monochromatic artwork. This was a picture of our very own English Bay.

* Monochrome Sunset by Mark Soo

The kids were more than happy to manipulate colours of the light through switches and mixing of coloured lights to achieve another shade/ colour.

This was a part of the exhibit but I was not able to take note what this was. It's a nice idea for a drop light which I can see some establishment are making use of.

Another exhibit that the kids played with was the Generate but Hybridity. An iPad with a camera that captures them and manipulating settings to create different type of images on the big screen.

I was actually hoping to see the coffee light bar but it was already down since it was the last day of the exhibit.

Guinness Book Exhibit at the Pacific Science Center

This year, I decided that we would do creative field trips with the kids and with an annual science pass that we purchased, we will be gearing toward science this year to maximize our purchase. We used our annual membership first, not on our own museum in Vancouver but on a Seattle trip, The Pacific Science Center.

I was excited as the exhibit featured was something I was interested in. The Guiness Book of World Record Exhibit. It ends at February 4th.

We went for the permanent exhibits first as it was our first time in this museum.

Science on a Sphere

All about the planets, Kenzo was more excited with playing the puzzles than learning about them..
Maybe next time?
