Cuddle Up and Read Day at Chapters

Spring break at Chapters was in our must do list and we finally did one on Wednesday.

I got both kids readied and in the car before 10:30am, made a quick stop at my office to pick up stuffs I need to do and went for a Free Crafts Day at Chapters.

Kimi was all excited to learn that she was meeting her regular play mates, Kalen and Justin.

Wednesday was Cuddle up and Read Day...

Kids were encouraged to go in their Pjs and bring their favorite stuff toys. Of course, we didn't brought any and was dressed for mall... I was a bit worried that it was a requirement but was glad that it was not :)

I was hesitant, at first, to let Kenzo go and have his freedom so he was watching everything from a safe distance... I finally relented and let him go to join in on the fun...

* From a safe distance...

The first part of the activity was trying to get the kids to interact through puzzles. Each kid was given 3-4 pieces of puzzles and they were to find the other parts to make it whole. The kids were to go around and find the missing piece and so on until the whole puzzle was complete, it was a good ice breaker and it took the group a little over 6 minutes to complete the puzzle.

It was a bit noisy by then and they were asked to sit by the tea cup for story time. It was down time for them and the parents who watched from the sidelines.

* Little kids, all ears.

* Little Justin more interested in the camera :)

... and Kenzo?

* He found his interest with a train track a bit farther from the event

* So happy to be on his own

The next project was kind of a scratch off paper that when you scratch the black surface reveals a colorful backing inside that creates art. They were asked to write their names, then the second one was to make a bunny for the upcoming Easter, then when done, they can do whatever they want.

* Work of arts

* Photo Op

* Kalen, Kimi and Justin

The last activity for the day was building with legos. The group was divided to the 3-4 year olds and another group for the 5 and up. The smaller kids get the smaller pieces and the older one gets the smaller ones to build.

* Basket of legos

* 3-4 year olds

* Kimi's creation #1

* Kalen's creation #1

of course, it fell down then...

* Kimi's creation # 2

The kids was asked to gather around on one side for some pictures once again.

* Lego group picture

They were asked to line up for their loot bags for the instructions, some more goodies and basically a bag to put the legos they build in.

You can discover more about a person in an hour of play
than in a year of work.
