2016 Grade 3 Auction Piece

For this year's auction, we decided on photo collage of the Grade 3's in their present and previous years in one box. A special collection of photos from the yesteryears in one package. We also created a trio of frames that depicts the verse 1 Corinthians 13:13

We spent a morning forming the Grade 3 (and their buddy from Grade 6) for the cross formation

Hearts was just an afterthought and was composed of the Grade 3 student only. It came out nicely so the idea for the three pictures being used instead of just one picture came about.

Using mod podge, pictures from 4 years and a natural finish box. We created these...

...and with the use of (3) 8 x 10 inches frame, we managed to do these

I am quite happy as to how it turned out.

Classroom Auction Project 2015

This year, a mom friend was a coordinator for the Grade 2 Auction Project. She came to me and asked me to help pitch in ideas and maybe help with the execution of the project up to it's completion as well.

This year is the Grade 2's First Communion year and we decided to focus the theme of our projects in line with the religious event. We wanted something that has a touch of the students on the project to make it more special. Pictures are worth a thousand words and these kid's pictures are used as mosaic to make up the whole artwork which are the following: The Holy Family and The Holy Trinity.

With a mosaic app, I was able to do these to both pictures. I put all the pictures from the kids in one folder. These pictures are from Kindergarten to Grade 2 pictured collected from their school... It was a lot of pictures but having more pictures to choose from is better in making the art work closer to the original.

We took advantage of the free poster print from Staples to see a proof of the Holy Trinity and once we saw how it looked, we decided to pay for one more copy for the Holy Family. We made use of the current promo at Michaels to frame the art works. It was a BOGO deal, which was why we actually saved a bit. Thanks to coupling.

It was overwhelming to see how the teachers (and students) responded to the Mosaic. We brought it on Tuesday (April Fools Day) since we had a schedule to do the add on project that we were brewing which was a paper bead rosary. We brought both frames up to the Grade 2 classroom and the teacher explained and showed the students our auction project.

For the paper bead rosary, we decided to get each kids to write down 2 prayers on an index card and copy those same prayers to a strip of paper which we will be rolling to make a paper bead. These beads will be the one uses to make a rosary. Armed with a jewelry tool and some wires, I tried to loop each beads as soon as they finish their prayer intentions and soon the rosary was taking shape. Thanks to a cutting machine, Mrs. Wagner used the machine to cut the cross on a cardboard and on the scrap paper similar to the beads to finish off the rosary's cross. We have yet to seal each bead with a gloss for the weekend and hopefully it will turn out great as well. A frame or a jewelry box is the final touch we were hoping for to showcase the product.

Mini Candy Craze

It started with the DIY Sushi...

It tasted like gummy but looks like sushi...

Just mix the packs included and form them with the use of the moulds and VOILA!

...and it was so darn cute plus a chance to bond with Kimi

The Burger was easier. It was just stacking up the gummy included in the pack and putting the wafer bun on both ends... This set was cheaper too!

Next, we found the ice cream kit that worked like a play dough with a small icing bag to make the ice cream swirls... The cones was included as is.

The donut kit is fairly easy with just mixing and moulding to do the kit. It was really yummy and the icings were really a hit with the kids...

* Baker's Dozen

This next kit required the use of a microwave. We mixed the dough and put the in the microwave to bake :) Still easy and it came out so pretty and not to mention, yummy!

It was weird to eat curry in miniature, knowing it was candy but tasting like curry and chicken nuggets. It was good though and Kimi liked her late night snack until it was all wiped out.

We Love our Families

The assignment was to decorate their own frames and say a bit about their family for February's I Love our Families Themed Board.

We decided to use up old supplies from old craft supplies and Kimi set to work on her frame

Handmade Cards

I was surprised how the handmade cards turned out so well...

This was a project by a Kindergarten Mom. The cards were sold $5 for 3 cards and was done by the kindergartens. Each batch has a name as to which kid did that batch and of course, the moms all grab the ones made by their precious kindergartener.

Art Combo (3-5yo) @ RAC

Mr Tony. 

I've heard raves about him from friends and I was more than excited to finally get his class for Kimi this summer for the end of August.

It was almost the end of Summer and it was a perfect way to end the Summer vacation with a week-long art class that would reunite Kimi and one of her favorite friend, Sam.

Before each class, Mr. Tony showed the parents what the children was doing for that day...

Mr Tony's secret weapon? Coco, his beloved monkey puppet. A bit of puppeteer can go a long way in entertaining the kids and making learning much more exciting.

DAY O1

* Parrot Bird Art...

Wings that looks a lot like hands... that is because, they actually used their hands to trace the shape for the bird's wings...

DAY 02

* Tiger Art

Yes, this drawing was supposed to be a tiger but Kimi decided to try blue to color hers...

DAY 03

* Color Wheel

The most important element in any art class is the color wheel to serve as a reference in mixing colors. the kids does all the mixing of the colors to make the secondary colors (orange violet and green) for the wheel!

DAY 04

* The Flamingo

Red and White make Pink, I think... A little phrase Mr Tony recites repeatedly to make the kids remember how pink came to be...

DAY 05

* Frog...

Blue and yellow mixture makes green... They experimented with yellow, blue and whites to make different shades of green to make up this artwork. That little black thing's a tadpole. Mr Tony does a bit of lecture about the life cycle of the frog as well to get the kid's informed about their project of the day.

Mr Tony always informed the parents how the kids did all the artworks and that even the mixing of the colors was all done by the kids themselves. I was pretty impressed that they did it on their own at the amount of time that was allotted for their class. Mr Tony's class may be a long drive from our place, but he was a real character and well worth it.

Coloring outside the lines is a fine art.

Choo Choo...all the way to Club Colour

It's always a full bus when we go with Mommy G's car.

The kids would be chattering all the way to our destination while Kenzo's given food all throughout to keep him busy and quiet.

Next stop was to have lunch before our Ceramic activity...

Choo Choo's was a cozy place with homemade dishes. The kids loved all the trains going around above us as we ate our meals and they were kept busy playing with the trains lent to them by the restaurant.
