Mini Candy Craze

It started with the DIY Sushi...

It tasted like gummy but looks like sushi...

Just mix the packs included and form them with the use of the moulds and VOILA!

* Fool Proof Sushi safe for the kids :)

...and it was so darn cute plus a chance to bond with Kimi

The Burger was easier. It was just stacking up the gummy included in the pack and putting the wafer bun on both ends... This set was cheaper too!
* Burger Jr.

Next, we found the ice cream kit that worked like a play dough with a small icing bag to make the ice cream swirls... The cones was included as is.

* Lukewarm Ice cream anyone?

The donut kit is fairly easy with just mixing and moulding to do the kit. It was really yummy and the icings were really a hit with the kids...

* Baker's Dozen

This next kit required the use of a microwave. We mixed the dough and put the in the microwave to bake :) Still easy and it came out so pretty and not to mention, yummy!

* Mini Two Tier Cake

It was weird to eat curry in miniature, knowing it was candy but tasting like curry and chicken nuggets. It was good though and Kimi liked her late night snack until it was all wiped out.

* Curry Good!

I wonder what our next candy adventure would be?

Till our next candy craft :)

Bianca's Uber-Sweet First Birthday

As soon as you step into the event, the amount of decorations, planning and love put into the party will surely overwhelm you.

* Cakes and Sweets Station

* Sweets Up Close

Not just one, but two sweet bars!

* Candy Bar

* Loot Candies

Even if you try to resist the temptation of eating those colorful sweets, another temptation is sitting right smack at the center of each table so...

* Centerpiece

Decors are just as coordinated with colorful pom poms and candy styrofoams hanging from each beams and blank walls

* Wall decor

* Decor up in the ceilings

The magician kept the adults kids entertained with hours of magic, and games

* Kids sat behind the spot light to watch the show

The kids enjoyed being the Magician's Assistant. I actually recorded the kids assisting

* Assistant KIMI * Assistant JUSTIN * Assistant SAM * Assistant KALEN *

* Kimi post for the camera

Thanks to Ninang Honey for the UGG boots
and Ninang Ciara for the Dress :)

At first, Kenzo sat on his own with an iphone to keep himself busy. He loved the chicken and ate by himself using his hand and ate 2 chicken all by himself... Then he was released from his booster seat, he went straight to my leg

* Shy Little Guy

* Asking to get carried away

Kimi, on the other hand, was a bit shy, thinking that she does not know the kids who was sitting on the kiddie table, but then she saw some familiar faces... Kalen, Justin, Samantha...

* Finally at ease

Bianca was sleeping the first part of the party (as was Kenzo for the duration of his first birthday then), then I chance upon her finally awake, Yey!

* Bianca with Mommy Van

It was a great party full of friends, both big and small, catching up; great food; great entertainment.

* Kenzo and MacKenzie trying to get acquainted again

* Kimi posing for a full shot :)

* Mommy with Macky

* Pretend Bite

...and the loot bags that are candy related as well

* Lots of kids are going home with a nice little tag and a Chocolate bar pencil box

* Personalized Bag Tag

... and a group picture with my favorite moms :)

* (L-R) Jo, Glenda, Van (Biancas Mom), Joy, Sarah, Mel
* Thanks to Charlie for this group photo

** I am using my reliable (small enough for any bag)
Sony Bloggie compact camera so some pictures
especially with kids have movement captured with the picture :( .
DSLR would have been much better with kid pictures.

Zebra Printed Inside Cake

Trying to experiment with the design inside a cake. I know that lots of practice is required to bake a great cake that tastes good and looks good. I practice with ready mix as I am not that confident baking from scratch yet... I will get there... sooner than later, I hope :)

* Preparing the batter

* Cooked striped cupcake and cakes
plus  double chocolate cupcake leftovers

My favorite part is decorating the cake.

* Shell reverse icing :)

still a lot of practicing to perfect this...

I guess I put in a bit too much icing at the top of the cake...

* Striped inside with icing design all over

I ran out of icing ingredients so I let the cake sit in a container and it was less moist than the cupcakes... I read that frosting seals the moisture in so that might have been the reason why it was a bit too dry :(

The frosting on the other hand was a tad too sweet... I guess I should have put the optional pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness of it...

Fingers crossed. Next time I hope i improve a bit more :)

Floral and Swirls...

There is still a lot of room for improvement but...

the tips and tricks imparted by the instructor was quite valuable for someone who doesn't have any background in baking or cake decorating. My icing was a bit on the dry side, hence, the crack on some of the decor but here was what I was able to do on that class...

* Rosette tip to make a flower cupcake

* Pinks and Blues....

We were taught how to do sunflowers, poinsettias and even monster cupcakes... I was not able to do the other icing colors that was why my colors were just in the vicinity of the pastels : blues, pinks and greens... and the ever reliable, white.

Sorry for missing 1 cupcake in the picture above, I was a bit hungry before the class so I ate one of the cupcake even before the start of the class :)

McSweet @ Orchard Road, Singapore

Whenever I travel, I love looking for a McDonald of that country to see what are the difference with the McDonald back home in Vancouver...

This one was located in one of the mall at a strip in Orchard Road.

* Modern Mc Structure...

* Vertical walls lined up the partitions with gaps in between
...this is to create spaciousness in spite of the division

* Supreme Milo Mc Flurry...
We don't have this in Vancouver...

* Fooling Around... Monkeys
See No Evil and Hear no Evil... Someone's missing...

* Supreme Milo McFlurry, Not so supreme after all... :P

* Simply Sweet :)
