PVZ Birthday for Kenzo's 6th Birthday

My son loves Plant vs Zombies for his party.

I was hoping he would change his mind as I am not ready to make a party looks like an extension of a Halloween party but he did not, and I had to do everything in a shorter time frame.

We started with the invites and decided on a cute and fun approach with zombie on it to fit the age range that we were going for, Kindergarteners.

With the invites done, we proceeded to go for the decors that will actually go with the party. It was easier as we had the colours of the invites to base on. I am happy with how we managed to make a theme that is supposed to be ghoulish look fun.

We started with banners that will be one of the main decor for the tables in the party. I got some fences from the local Daiso store here in Richmond, B.C.

We also decorated the utensils with a personalized napkin rings and coloured napkins to add a whimsical element to the food table.

Water bottles were also decorated to complement everything in the table.

Water Bottle Labels

Loot bags were next. Using the colour scheme and logo, I made each kid their own button which are also available here for purchase.

Personalized PVZ Button are available here

Snap pea crisp as part of the loot as it is related to the pea shooter in the PVZ game.

We also went ahead and made some sweet cups for the kids to enjoy.

The party venue got some packages you can add to your event. We decided on the popcorn and cotton candies.

As for the entertainment, a bouncy castle, some toy cars and a giant blocks kept them occupied.

Soon, it was time to do the traditional candle blowing...

Capturing my little munchkins...

Are there tips out there on how to catch those moments of fleeting childhood moments up close?

I love my kids but it is just impossible to get both of them to cooperate just in time for me to get a picture of them prim and proper, smiling at the camera. I usually had to beg (bribe) them to stay still just for one more take.

I finally moved on to the portrait setting on my camera and this is what I got so far...

It was the last day of creative dance for Kenzo and Pro-D Day for Kimi which also officially marks the start of their spring break. We were able to spend the afternoon biking and skating and just running around without catching up to a schedule... (Sigh)

I do appreciate any feedbacks on what settings works best on your camera to catch kids on the go.

A is for Apple(sauce)

It was the start of the school year and the preschoolers starts their years getting acquainted with the letter "A".

* A is for apple

Teachers have apples all over the room. Real apples for their first project...making applesauce. Apple pictures in the boards, books about, you guess it- apples!

I was in the room with Kenzo the first few days so I decided to take out my camera and take some snapshots of their first project.

* Everybody got a turn to use the small apple peeler

* Kenzo's turn...

The teachers were great at making learning fun. The kids were learning without realizing it.

Great Job Mrs C and Mrs. Franklin.

In a Nutshell: Summer Activities 2013

In the midst of all the activities that we had for Summer, it was had to keep my blog updated.

I was in and out of the house, with playdates and work in between kept me from my laptop the whole Summer.

It was good to finally find some activities for Kenzo. I wanted to make sure he will be ready for Pre school and signed him up on several Summer activities to get him into the routine of being with a teacher and a group of kids his age for a short while.

Some Summer Activites that I previously blogged about:

July 5, 2013

July 8-12, 2013

ARTS COMBO
July 15-19, 2013
JULY 29- August 2, 2013

I was excited for the opening of the New Edmonds Community Centre (Fred Randall Pool), I was especially excited because I was waiting for the pool because it was right across our house and it was really convenient to have the kids swim and wash at home instead of the public shower. I was able to get a slot for Summer but Fall Season was really full. I hope the waitlist will open up and we will get in soon to keep swimming as part of their regular activity outside school. For now, all we can do is just wait.

Soccer for 3 year olds. I signed Kenzo here to test the waters. It was hard to get him in. Out of the 4 classes, Kenzo decided to spend 3 of the classes outside crying. It was frustrating to look outside the class with him for 3 classes, and was able to get him is when I decided to let Kimi in with him. For the whole month of August, it was a package deal for them so it was 2 kids for soccer just to get Kenzo to cooperate. Good Luck to me on sending him to Preschool...

* Gymnastic for a week

Kimi and her friend from school, Thea, went for a week of Gymnastic. It was quite a ride from our place but well worth it as each class was a full day. They were tired after each class but always happy which was what matters in the end :)

Kimi loves to draw and I thought that it would be nice to try the Cartooning class that was offered at the New Edmonds. I got several of her classmates to join her in this class to make it more fun.

Shadbolt was a great place to learn lots of dance and arts, and when I saw that New Edmonds offered dances for a short term with instructors from Shadbolt. It was a no brainer, I got Kimi in for a class (8 sessions) of Creative Ballet. She misses her ballet class from before but we had to drop it in lieu of her Mandarin classes. I hope I find a good dancing class for her that is closer to our home... *fingers crossed*

Thriving Family Summer 2013

I love Thriving Family and has been a subscriber for quite a while. I heard about them through my daily podcast of Focus on the Family and has been reading their magazine to help me with paenting my two munchkins.

It is a great read for parents on how to raise kids in faith and I am so happy to see that for the latest edition, Kenzo's picture was included in one of the inserts in coloured print...
