Creative Dance for 5 years old

I wish there was a site to check on ratings and reviews of a particular class before trying them out but it is a hit and miss.

There is one though that I tried before when Kimi was younger, which I loved at Shadbolt called "Creative Dance 4yo" with an instructor named Mr. Trevor. He is now at his 15th year teaching this class and what I love the most is his character and the live accompaniment that makes the class more interesting. The fact that I intentionally registered for his class is a statement enough of just how much I enjoy his class for my kids... Kenzo actually refused to go to dance class, but he enjoyed it right after one class. (Whew!)

Capturing my little munchkins...

Are there tips out there on how to catch those moments of fleeting childhood moments up close?

I love my kids but it is just impossible to get both of them to cooperate just in time for me to get a picture of them prim and proper, smiling at the camera. I usually had to beg (bribe) them to stay still just for one more take.

I finally moved on to the portrait setting on my camera and this is what I got so far...

It was the last day of creative dance for Kenzo and Pro-D Day for Kimi which also officially marks the start of their spring break. We were able to spend the afternoon biking and skating and just running around without catching up to a schedule... (Sigh) 

I do appreciate any feedbacks on what settings works best on your camera to catch kids on the go.

July Summer Classes @ Burnaby 2012

I'm especially excited with the start of summer as schedules finally opened up for Kimi (and Kenzo) to do some week-long activities that will keep them active and occupied. I got them different activities with the hopes that they will find something that will really appeal to them, and if it does, a long term registration of that particular activity is an option when the school year finally starts.

There are more activities this year for Kimi's age and what I did was I got the music teacher's class from Kimi's summer music class last year which Kimi enjoyed immensely, for Kenzo this year. The program for the younger set is called Young Tunes (July 3-6, 2012). It was a win win situation for the reason that Kimi can sit in while Kenzo does his class, so if Kenzo decided not to be that cooperative in the class, I am pretty sure Kimi, at least, will be participating.

As for Kimi, I got the Creative Dance for 4yo (July 9-13, 2012) which was highly recommended by our cousin and the Art Explorers (July 9-13, 2012) in Burnaby Art Gallery which was an art class using different media and an artwork/inspiration from an artist to based the day's work.

For the week that Kenzo didn't have any class, we spent the day waiting for Kimi with the whole Shadbolt and Burnaby Art Gallery as his personal playground. Although it was hard to be running after him, he was quite happy coming with me everyday and it was worth it in a way. It was our own time to bond...outdoor this time.

Creative Dance (4yo) @ Shadbolt

I loved the casual and fun approach to this program. 

Mr Trevor called the students dancers/ friends and was quite entertaining in his class.

I was not able to witness the class until the last day wherein parents are finally encouraged to come and see for themselves what the kids have been doing the past few days.

Color my clay

It was the last day of clay class and this was the best part...

Painting the clay that were already rock hard solid from the kiln :)...and taking them all home.

Kimi did the cane first. She was good coloring this particular project because it doesn't have that many small details so there was very little room for mistakes.

After the painting, we need to dry them up for the sealing paint to make the clay shiny

Kimi painted this little plate with a big brush. She painted the yellow inner part and the blue outer part. The little decor at the edge of the plate was made with the use of a garlic presser.... Genius eh?

Unfortunately, Kimi accidentally broke a part of the Christmas tree. I guess the teacher was expecting these kind of things so he got a handy solution. Glue gun.

We really enjoyed this class together. It was our bonding moment for us girls ;)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

The weather is getting colder and colder day by day.

The winter jackets are finally out and hanged...

I was waiting for Halloween to pass through before any preparation for Christmas gets in the way.

Today is Clay day once again :) and the teacher has another thing coming...

Christmas is definitely the theme for today's class...so, Christmas, Here we come!

Time passed way too fast when we do this clay classes. I just love how Kimi and I get to sit down and do a project together.

Creativity by Clay

It was the first day of clay class for Kimi. This class makes use of clay to make Family keepsake, hence, the title of the program Family Keepsakes in Clay. This was a new program which is finally in Kimi's age group- yey!

We went for a really late lunch afterwards at Shiang Garden... It was an unbelievable wait of more than an hour and everyone was soooo hungry by the time we got to the table.
