Christmas with the Chuas 2011

It is that time of the year to bring out the ornaments and decorate the whole house once again with little balls and socks.

I was not able to purchase new ornaments this year aside from the angel on top of our tree.

Last year, we had red, greens and golds. I bought some ornaments on sale last year for this year's color theme.

Aqua/ Turquoise, Fuchsia, Olive greens, Oranges...etc for the tree this year...

It's a Kid's World

We only have one room for the kids to share. It was done way before Kenzo was born so it is a bit on the feminine decor.

* The Fun starts here

The Kimi Sign hangs on the door to their room. This was lovingly made by yours truly hehe! The frame was a gift from Kimi's baptismal in Manila, Philippines. It was actually a frame with 12 places to put a picture in every month. I decided to make something out of it. I used gift wrap from the loonie store and put it on top of the cardboard frame to cover it entirely, then got printed tape from Daiso ($2 store) to cover up the white frame. I bought the lettering from a craft store in Manila and Voila! The Wall decals are from one of the loonie store as well.

* The Bedroom

I love Ikea a lot and it shows with this room. I would have loved a pink themed room for my little princess but I decided to do a primary color themed just to be able to accommodate a boy when the time comes. The crib and the storage bins for the toys as well as the 'V' shelves hanging are all from Ikea. We got the Changing drawer from Sears. I opted for a freestyle border which |I got from different sources. I would have painted the rooms differently but then it was a new house and the paint was still good and neutral so we made use of that.

* Overflowing of toys and Picture Wall Momentos

The toys just keeps on getting more and more...Not that I am complaining :) We got a chain type hanging from the corner to hang the stuff toys in and make room in the floor.

* Book and Toy ledge

* Mini Library

* Photo Cork Board

This little boards actually covers up a little blunder from our initial carpenter attempt :) It turned out for the better anyway.

Two in one room: Dining and Kitchen

I am so glad that Kelly's Korner decided to post the Show us your life for Fridays a day earlier :)

I can't actually take a picture of the Dining without the Kitchen... It is such a small space that I only got one picture to represent both areas.

It's not much, but this is it :)

I know the Dining set is not the most Kid Friendliest furniture around but I manage to teach my kids how to live with the furniture that we got and so far we manage to have two very active kids and zero major accidents :) (knock on wood...)

Our Own Nirvana...

The Second part of Show us your life from Kelly Korner's Blog

It's not much since we haven;t actually put anything beside the essentials into our bedroom. We focused on the nursery more than our own room... he he!

When I said essentials... It means bed and the rocking(?!) chair to put the baby to sleep. The chair is from Ikea while the Bed set is from Ashley. The side table consists of the player for the Itouch to be played in during sleeping time and it is used to charge the gadget during daytime.

Would you believe that there are 4 people sleeping in this Queen Size bed? Yep! We sleep together and therefore moving is limited :) Think, Cans of sardines...

We just enjoy it though while the kids still wants to sleep with us... :)

A Sneak Peek at our Living Room....

Today, I decided to join Kelly's Korner, Show us where you live, featuring the... LIVING ROOM!

We moved to Vancouver, Canada from Manila, Philippines 2007. New to everything, we decided to buy a house that we could live in together but still has that semblance of space to live our own lives. We have a two storey house and got the renter's suite on the ground floor(he he!).. and the in laws got the area on the 2nd floor which is like the main suite... :). Each floor has their own kitchen, living room and dining area. Our area is smaller from the garage and laundry area that makes up the ground floor area.

* Our Living Area- The Seating Area

* Our Living Area- The Entertainment Centre ;)

* The Control Center

* I love my pillows...

* The Center Decor
(..used to have white balls too but the kids decided to tore it apart )

* My Rocking chair
(...and my cheat stool. This rocking chair seems to be designed for ahem* taller people)

* Bumbo seat for the kids but they love to sit on the floor instead
..This is my daughter, Kimi

* The playpen serves as the divider from our Living and Dining
...this is my son, Kenzo :)

* * * * *
Happy Touring!

A House(room) in progress

Ever since we started to live here in Burnaby, we only bought the necessary furniture that would make our home function. I haven't got the chance to accessorize out house due to more important spending like milk, diaper and travels he he!

My mom and youngest brother came here last May and we bought a bed to accommodate them but haven't done much so with the room. I really hope that I can find a good deal that looks really good for the room so as to finish it little by little.

For that guest room, I have bought only the basic browns which I hope to add splashes of color to make it look alive...

Things that are now existing are...

* I love this bed... It's a perfect one for the room
Twin bed and seating area during daytime and if there are guests that want to stay with us,
it can be pulled out to make it King size plus it has extra drawers for storage!

* Bedsheet

* Similar to this shade, we have this as blanket for summer time

* This bookshelf is a great storage

* We added 2 doors to the shelves to keep things that need not be seen in here

* Ledge that keeps the pictures in place and keeps the wall from getting too much hall from screws

* A little ledge that makes the room not so crowded but serves it function of holding the TV in place

* This is where our laptop and important paperworks are

As for the things that I hope to add (or something like it).... Please have them on sale soon!
A splash of warm colors to create a completely opposite feeling from the living/ dining area.

* A splash of color on the wall to frame the white window frame

* Simple artworks

* An interesting way to look at the time

* An interesting wall piece conversation

* Make the bed more alive with this dotted pillow

* Welcome guests with this geometric rug

Decor comeback

When Kimi started to walk and discover things, decors that aren't supposed to be touched and might do her harm were hidden...

Now that Kimi can understand, those decors can finally be back to where they were placed :)

I guess everything is finally out in the open again, that is, until Kenzo starts that discovery phase he he!

Poinsettia with twigs to accentuate a side table

A cage with a decorative wreath for a base...
(planning to buy some string leafy items to surround the cage...)

Spice Rack...

It's all lined up neatly and more counter space for other items...

We are finally maximizing our counter space.

Yey! We are finally really living downstairs and is becoming self sufficient in our own place he he!

It is not always easy but I guess in time we will become much more easier...
