The Chuas meet The Croods

We weren't planning on doing a movie especially with Kenzo in tow but hubby decided to try and see if Kenzo will finally behave and be able to sit still for a whole movie. 

We couldn't find The Croods poster so we posed on the Monster University Decor for a bit of photo fun.

It's his first time inside the movie and good thing he wasn't scared when we showed him the dimly lit theatre...

With a popcorn as a bribe to keep him still, he was okay for the most part, except for the occasional times that he lost his toy cars while the movie was playing and we had to use our mobile to light up the floor to find his precious cars.

The movie was funny with moments that actually got me teary eyed on some parts...

A dinner and a movie...

I know it is the norm for some couples but it had been awhile since we did this normal dating and finally, it happened...without any kids in tow... double yey!

We usually go towards Vancouver or Richmond but this time around we did New Westminster...

As small as this place is... it is a hidden gem of a restaurant which serves great dish (so far) every time, regardless of what dish we ordered.

After the full and quick meal, we proceeded to the new cinema in New Westminster. According to him, it just opened last May, 2012.

We decided to watch Amazing Spiderman instead of the Dark Knight.

I liked this movie compared to the one which starred Toby Maguire. The effects were amazing. The story also showed not only how he became Spiderman but also a little backgrounder of his childhood as well. His enemy in the movie was The Lizard.

...and outside the theater, there was a booth with a Reptile girl. It turned out that a make up artist was showcasing her talent by doing some samples of The Reptile, Joke (for Batman), etc...

With the amount of movies I watched in an actual cinema since I came here in Canada, being in a movie theater 2 times in a quarter year is a record breaker for me... LOL!

It is the first time I've been to Station Square for a movie, reason being, that the Filipino movie shown is in that particular cinema. 

I came with no expectation...

It was really funny, with a lot of kissing scenes (a first for these two actors), with one scene that got me laughing so hard my tummy hurts. It was a good break from my routine and makes me less homesick for a few hours.

I used to watch a birthday movie when I was still single. Not every time but it was my treat when a nice sappy movie or a Leonardo Di Caprio movie was showing.... (Romeo and Juliet, Titanic etc...)


Here, it is not so easy... I am happy though that I finally got to watch a movie on my birth month this year. This is a rare treat for me especially here where everything like someone to leave the kids with are also a part of the process to be taken care of before you can say yes to a simple movie... 

The movie ending was not as nice as I've hoped but it was a good movie.

I have gone sentimental again and spent a morning watching the classic, "Somewhere in Time"

It was shown in the 1980, the year I was born but I have heard about this and watched it before when I was a kid... I really love the songs in this movie and how love transcends time, and that true love is really worth it.

I love the simplicity of the song and how love makes a difference in how we see everything...

That is the reason why I wanted to be a figure skater as well and enrolled little Kimi to learn the basics... My frustrations passed on to my little girl :)

Seducing Mr.Perfect

It's been awhile since I've watched a Korean movie and had no idea I got one in my usb (Thanks to Eric, who transferred some dl movies for me to watch when I finally got some time...). I was feeding Kenzo when I decided to check if my usb has something short that I can watch and enjoy.Take note "short", when you got a baby your time for yourself are all short, I don't think I ever manage to complete a whole movie at home without some sort of interruption...

Wait, back to the Korean movie. It was entitled "Seducing Mr. Perfect" and I originally thought that it was an English movie from it's title. It was a romantic comedy with subtitles which fit me perfectly... One more thing about being a mom is that Tv volumes go down when there is a baby sleeping which makes the subtitles a must-have.




All the actors in this movie were new to me. I like the lead guy in particular and I think the role suit him perfectly... Here is a synopsis of the dvd I copied from a website: asia torrents

Minjun works at a foreign-based M&A firm, possesses a cool personality, stays on the forefront of fashion, and flashes appeal that allows her to succeed in work and love. She eagerly awaits a vacation in Hong Kong to spend time with her boyfriend, but is left hanging alone upon her arrival. Twilight saga via audiobook

Motherhood comes with all sets of new responsibility and when you want to have the luxury of doing things you love despite the endless chores... You got to be creative and one of the things you got to master is how to multi-task
:)






So despite a full schedule of juggling a baby, being pregnant, domestic chores and a night shift part time job, i managed to make way for my readings, or let us say, listening (via itouch) to the books I want to reread which in that instant was the twilight saga, to prepare myself for the upcoming movie new moon...

It keeps me occupied while I earn my paycheck...killing two birds with one stone! I even have the midnight sun audiobook finished :)

Baby Shower Preparation

It was my first time to organize a baby shower and it was a challenge doing it on a place I am not that familiar with.

First off, I need to invite Sab's circle of friend and what better way than during Little Sophie's birthday celebration.

THE SCHEMERS... We haven't talked about the shower while this shot was taken ...bet Sab wasn't aware that a shower is about to brew behind her back

I really had no idea where to hold the said shower but I wanted a pamper theme for Sab since she usually mentions that she misses her beauty sessions in Manila which is pretty expensive here... (and expecting mommies need to be extra beautiful, right? We don't want people to just remember big belly from seeing us but to be physically beautiful with the belly and all). It was the Co sisters who mentioned the Perfect Health Spa which has a movie combined with the manicure or pedicure treatment... PERFECT!

The hardest thing was getting the final date... with a group of busy gals working hard and playing harder... Everyone had their activities all lined up until August and the only date that was available was the 15th. Perfect again because I really wanted the shower to be a month from Sab's due date.... It was like divine intervention really, everything was working out really for the best...

With 2 1/2 month in the making, I was in constant correspondence with the attendees and they were the most cooperative group I could have hoped for. No one slipped and despite numerous meet ups with Sab, the secret was safe. They even made an excel of all the contributions for the food to munch for that day as well as the things to bring for easy reference. I couldn't asked for a better group of people to plan it with.

Keeping it a secret from Sab was the hardest for me, I am quite a transparent person and I can't lie with a straight face. I was okay when the date was far away but as it got nearer, I kept on thinking how to make sure that Sab didn't plan anything for the Baby "B"-Day.

The idea came on our 1st GNO (Girl's night out). Mommies need to have a night cap, more so than single gals and during the cup of coffee I finally spilled the beans on Joy, who was the newest mama member in the group regarding the shower while Sab was getting her caffeine (Oops! slipped... ). Unfortunately, Mama Joy was quite busy for the 15th and can't join us but a plan was finally hatched on my head... I was fortunate that Sabrina and I was seperated for the ride to Joy's house for our next play date and I asked Sarah to organize a GNO for the 15th to make sure that Sabrina will be available that day and that I will just concoct something so that I won't be able to go to the GNO in order to prepare the place. Sarah and Glenda deserved a best actress award for deadma mommies of the year and proceeded with their performance of making a GNO despite 40% absentees from the group.

My Sister's Keeper

I first came across this title by Jodi Picoult when I was looking at the books by the fiction aisle on our nearby library.

I really loved how the story goes and was intrigued as to how the writer would be able to tell that story and the thin line between family and betrayal.

Then, there came the movie which was based on the book... And i decided that the book usually is better than the movie. I wanted to see the movie first and then get the book.

I cried throughout the movie. I guess you would be pretty heartless if you did not get moved by the story. I can't wait to get a hold of the book and enjoy this story from it's original form.

Pinoy's For the First Time

K and I decided to watch a Pinoy movie that we downloaded recently. Our choice? The movie starring Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion.

I am not really keen on watching this film as I am not a fan of both actors although I have to admit that they are one of the best looking young actors in the Philippines. They do make a striking couple and I was skeptical as to how they would be portrayed in this particular movie.

It started off with KC, as Pia who doesn't like Richard, as Seth which was the playboy who dated every one of her friends and ended up breaking each of their hearts. Pia, working for her dad, went for a vacation at Santorini, Greece to unwind. I soooo love the setting of Santorini, it was so simple and the lifestyle there was so relaxed.

There they met again and despite their difference and Pia's initial reluctance began to feel something between them. Richard and Kc were so right for each of their respective roles... I wouldn't want to ruin the story by telling it all here, just watch and breathe in the spectacular setting :). I'd love to go here sometime in the near future ;)

Having my sister in law, Sabrina, makes watching movie in the afternoon much more fun. Sophie and Kimi entertains themselves as we try to block off their noises and concentrate on the movie playing...

Downtown Date...

A date in the afternoon with just Sab :)... No Babies to worry about for the whole afternoon.... Whew!

First off, we decided to have lunch at Milestone Grill Bar. The interior of the restaurant was cozy with lots of different textures applied to the walls. The steps from the ground bar to the 2nd floor dining area was textured ceramic tiles. The chairs for the dining area was of different styles creating an eclectic look. We chose a grill with the intention of veering away from the Italian dish we just had a few nights ago but ended up having pasta and strawberry lemonade for drinks.

After the wonderful meal swapping stories and just enjoying each others company, Sab decided to have sweets at Cafe Crepe. She was able to lure me into the little cafe to eat a whole crepe with a full stomach...Talk about persuasion!!... and the wonderful aroma of the crepes being cooked... I was defenseless and ended up 2x full at the start of our date. Sab has a reason of being pregnant to eat more, while I, had none... :(

We were supposed to watch the newest download before Brian leave for Manila... A film about the end of the world starring Keanu Reeves.

I honestly don;t know the title of the film but was looking forward to having a night just for relaxing...
But with 2 kids between the four of us, an arranged plan can easily get cancelled :(. Till next time...

Shopaholic: Seperated at birth?

Saturday movie date night @ Silvercity, Metrotown was jam packed with young and olds who fell in line to relax and watch a movie. Being there at 7pm, we have only 5 minutes to spare before the beginning of our movie. We looked at the zigzag line that seems to have no end with a grimace and realized that there was no way we could catch the start of the movie if we buy our line the old fashioned way. It was a good thing that there was a fast lane machine wherein you can purchase ticket with the use of a credit card (whew!)

After purchasing the ticket and the popcorn through the machine. We have to go through another line, the bar, wherein we also have fall in line like the rest of the guys who are paying to buy some treats (I thought there was a claiming lane for food!). We decided to go in and find ourselves some seats and K would go out and claim the food after I am settled down. It was a close call because we got the last 2 seats that were together. There were a couple of scattered single seats which I thankfully don't have to make use of. :)

The movie, Confession of a Shopaholic, was based on a book by SophieKinsella. There were a lot of difference between the movie and the book. As for the character, I couldn't help but notice the similiarity between Isla Fisher, the one who played Becky and a local ex-actress in Manila who goes by the name of Cristina Gonzales... the movie was so-so for me.

Steve Martin...A Movie date, atlast!

The first movie date with K back in 2004 was watching Cheaper by the dozen at Rockwell...


The first movie date this trip in Canada... Another Steve Martin movie once again, Pink Panther 2 :) We went to Empire Theater to enjoy the movie, Pink Panther 2. It was really hilarious from start to finish...

The Empire Theater is not one of the best theaters I've seen here in Canada. I love the Silvercity in Metrotown. The Facade of the theater is like the typical old movie houses I've seen on film with light bulbs lighting up the titles of movie showing. There is a staircase and escalator leading to the common area one flight down where the food and drink bar is located as well as a common restroom for the moviegoers. The interior of the theater was nothing to rave about. Huge Tarppouline of a movie ad is the main decor for the common area.
