Reunited with my first love...

Everyone who knew me from way back knows that I love to lose myself with a good book.
I was even a human library back in High school. Classmates would borrow books after books from me...

....then motherhood came. Fictions turns into Parenting Books...

I am so happy to be relieved of some time for myself while waiting for Kimi and I reacquainted myself to a nearby library....

Ohhhh! feels like home...Ooops! Sounds nerdy eh!?

Some light reading to keep me company while Kimi is doing gradual entry for this week.

I know it's way past Christmas...

But I am a sucker for Christmas stories especially if it is about second chances.

I came across this and am so glad I finally got to read it while waiting for Kimi outside her school...

She is on gradual entry right now so it is more practical to wait than go home and be back 15 minutes after...
considering how slow I drive he he!

The Christmas List

James Kier looked back and forth between the newspaper headline and the photograph of himself, not sure if he should laugh or call his attorney. It was the same photograph the Tribune had used a couple of years earlier when they featured him on the front page of the business section. While the photograph was the same, the headline could not have been more different. Not many people get to read their own obituary.

Kier put the paper down. He had no idea what the article was about to set in motion.

Love according to "The Prophet"

Let's talk about love this month... I love this piece a lot and I want to share it with u...

Extracts from “The Prophet”

In his book “The Prophet,” Khalil Gibran tells the story of Al-Mustafá, a man who returns to his homeland. The inhabitants of the village where he has spent all those years ask him to teach what he has learned.
Below are some of the (edited) extracts from this classic of the 20th century:

Matrimony

You were born together and together you will be when the white wings of death end your days because you will remain united in the silent memory of God.
But let there be room between the two. Let the wind of the skies pass through your bodies.
Love, but do not turn love into bondage.
Let one of you fill the other’s glass, but may you never drink from the same glass.
Sing and dance, be happy, but let each of you keep your independence; the cords of the lute are single, although they resound to the same music.
Surrender your heart, but not for the other to possess – because only the hand of Life can hold full hearts.
Be together, but not too together – because the pillars of a temple are separated.
The oak does not grow in the shadow of the cypress, and the cypress cannot grow in the shadow of the oak.

Children

Your children are not your children; they are the sons and daughters of life. They came through you, but do not belong to you.
They can give you their love, but not their thoughts – because they have their own dreams.
You can protect their bodies, but not their souls – because their souls inhabit the house of tomorrow, which not even in dream can you visit.
You can try to be like them, but do not try to make them behave like you; because life does not go backwards, nor is it seduced by yesterdays.
You are the bow from where your children, like living arrows, are shot forward; let the hand of the Archer do its work, because just as He loves the arrow that flies, He also loves the bow that stays still.

Love

When love calls, accept its call, even if the road is rough and difficult.
And when your wings open up, surrender yourselves, even if the spade that lies there hidden ends up wounding one of you.
And when love says something, believe it, even if its voice destroys your dreams like the Northern wind devastates the gardens.
Because love glorifies and crucifies. It makes the branches grow and then trims them. It crushes men until they are flexible and docile. It burns them in divine fire so that they can convert into sacred bread to be served at God’s banquet.
However, if you are afraid and want to find in love only peace and pleasure, better that you stay away from the door and seek some other world where you will be able to laugh but without any joy, and cry but without using up all your tears.
Love gives nothing and asks for nothing besides itself. Love neither possesses nor is possessed – because it suffices to itself.
And do not try to direct its course – because love thinks that you are worthy, it will lead you to where you have to go.

Twilight saga via audiobook

Motherhood comes with all sets of new responsibility and when you want to have the luxury of doing things you love despite the endless chores... You got to be creative and one of the things you got to master is how to multi-task
:)

So despite a full schedule of juggling a baby, being pregnant, domestic chores and a night shift part time job, i managed to make way for my readings, or let us say, listening (via itouch) to the books I want to reread which in that instant was the twilight saga, to prepare myself for the upcoming movie new moon...

It keeps me occupied while I earn my paycheck...killing two birds with one stone! I even have the midnight sun audiobook finished :)

sTORI TELLING

Yes! I am now into reading autobiography....

....but it is a light read he he! Sorry to disappoint but it is not some historical or a politcal figure but a hollywood mommy :)

I am not going to subject myself to hard core reading with all the stress I am normally having, I deserve a light read to entertain myself :)

I did find some quotable quotes that I love from the book...

...We are not defined by the family
into which we're born,
but the one we choose and create.
We are not born, we become...

***

My whole life I wanted to be normal.
Everybody knows there's no such thing as normal.
There is no black and wite definition of normal.
Normal is subjective.

An early love of books

I decided to go for a stroll with Kimi to the nearest library. I bought my netbook and decided to try getting my own library card for myself as well :)

I brought the new blanket and zipped them up to keep little Kimi warm. She was snuggled happily warm as a toast inside her blanket moving her feet up and down happily as I pushed her on our way to the library.

ALL WARM

In the library, I found a book nook with a built in chair with colorful pillows for added comfort. The yellow brick wall added to the homey feeling inside the warm interior of the public library. Kimi made her way toward the nook, went up into the built in and made herself right at home with the discarded book that was left on top of the seat.

Midnight Sun

When I heard about the story about Edward's side of the Twilight Saga, I can't wait to get a hold of this book. I learned eventually that a copy of a draft got leaked and that it was on hold indefinitely :(...Too bad. So I googled for some information on the said title. I stumbled upon Stephanie Meyer's official site with an unedited draft of the first chapter...

A teaser for the Twilight Fans out there!

I surely hope that the wait for this book won't be too long....

Finding Noel

Finished reading the book by Richard Paul Evans entitled "Finding Noel". I would have listed more of the quotes inside the book but it will be too many, I simply chose the best ones below.
After the Trials...
"I’ve wondered why it is that some people come through difficult times bitter and broken while others emerge stronger and more empathetic? I’ve read that the same breeze that extinguishes some flames just fans others. I still don’t know what kind of flame I am."
- Finding Noel, Richard Paul Evans
About Family

"I’ve come to know that our families are a canvas on which we paint our greatest hopes- imperfect and sloppy, for we are all amateurs at life, but if we do not focus too much on our mistakes, a miraculous picture emerges. And we learn that it’s not the image that warrant our gratitude- it’s the chance to paint."

A Perfect Day

A PERFECT DAY:
Mine would be to have
both my baby and hubby with me

It is getting a little bit chilly now in Canada. Sort of like Christmas weather if we are in Manila.

I’d love to curl up on the sofa while warming myself with a blanket, reading a Christmassy kind of book. It’s almost impossible to do that now with a baby demanding to be fed, held and played with almost round the clock so I did the next best thing, I read my book curled up under the blanket with my baby sleeping contentedly beside me... Everyone happy hehe!
I haven’t been to any bookstore here in Canada since I’ve arrived (Pretty out of character for someone who can stay inside a bookstore for hours scanning the aisles of books...) but I went to the nearest library to get a stack of books to read while I wait for my reading time... The first book I read was “A Perfect Day” By: Richard Paul Evans. I really love Mr. Evan’s books, the way he writes tugs at the heartstrings and makes readers take a fresh look at their own lives. This book is no exception...
