My Memory of Disney 80's

My first trip to Disney World (Florida) was back in 1985.
I was 5 then, and we were a family of 4 (we are a family of 5 now).
That was our first trip as a family, and it was never repeated until last March, 2011
when I came home to Manila and went to Singapore.
That was my birthday wish which hubby readily gave me.
He actually took his vacation leave
and stayed home just to let me go home for our family getaway.
Thank you again hubby!

Back to the topic on hand,
my memory of that first Disney trip was very vague.
I don't know if that memory were truly memories
or was it something I've watched from the video
(...that video recorder used to be called betamax then)
my dad recorded during that trip.

Whatever it was, two things I remember from that trip
The Dumbo Ride and the attraction called, It's a Small World.

I was eager to let Kimi try both rides
just so she can have that same experience that I had as a girl.
She enjoyed both rides immensely.

* DUMBO THE FLYING ELEPHANT *

* Dumbo shaped shrub

* Ready to fly

* Mommy and Kimi

* IT's A SMALL WORLD *

I was choosing over watching the night show Fantasmic
in the evening on Sunday straight from San Diego
or going on Monday in time for the opening of It's a Small World
which was the first day
because it was under construction for the first two days we came to Disney...
So, the third day was spend on a Monday am so that we can do the It's a Small World.

* It's a Small World from outside

* Sign of the Small World

* Geometric Landscapes

* Daddy and Kimi awaiting outside

 * Ride is about to begin

I videod the whole experience

* 1/2 video

* 2/2 video

* Nice Tree shapes

Disney Characters

A travel to Disneyland could never be complete without a picture with the mouse who started this whole park.

* Mickey Mouse

* Mickey Post

* The First mouse, Minnie.

* Cute Mailbox

* The Evasive Pluto

We've chase Pluto a couple of times before we managed to get him to stand still for a photo.

* Goofy's tight embrace

* A Tea party with Alice and the Mad Hatter

* The Fairy Godmother

...and from Disney California Adventure

* Max

I am not that familiar with this character but he looks like Goofy, he is inside the park and there is not much wait so took a picture with him too! :)

Getting Tangled...

Being Kimi's favorite Disney Princess as of the moment, Tangled deserved an entry all by itself.

We didn't catch Princess Tangled on our 1st Disney day. She has her own picture taking line up and her shift ends at 5:00 P.M.

We decided to go straight to her picture area the next day. There was a line up as soon as we arrived. I guess everyone loves Tangled just as Kimi does...

* Tangled Marker

* The view from our line up

* My Princess dressed in Minnie inspired skirt.

* The Tangled Photo House

* Guard in costume

Since we were taking a bit of a time in the front, I decided to get a picture of Kimi with the guard in the entrance.

* Kimi and the Tangled guard...

Finally, we were inside the room waiting for our turn...

* Little fans taking their time with Princess Rapunzel

* Princess Rapunzel

Kimi was in awe and a bit speechless when she got her turn with the Princess. She kept on smiling and nodding dumbly... Sigh*

* Princess Rapunzel having a conversation with... herself

* Princess Rapunzel and my little Princess Kimi

* (L-R) Rapunzel, Kimi and Mel

Once upon a time...

When you are bringing a little girl to Disney, it is a must that she gets to meet the Disney Princess(es), so even though there was a line outside, we positioned ourselves at the end of the line and prepared to... wait.

* Where happily ever after happens every day...

.....and wait...

and more waiting....

* Stage inside

There was no sign of a show for the times that we decided to line up but we console ourselves that this was the best time since it was not so hot for waiting and the line was not as long as on other days.

* Princess Showtimes

I decided to check the areas surrounding for any free activities to join in.

* Nice Setup

* Castle backdrop. Purple curtain leading to fitting room

This is the princess room store area, hence, the fitting room.

* More backdrops...

Went back to the line since we were finally near the front...

* Posing with the costumed guard

...and finally, we were in. We were asking which princess was inside for Kimi wanted to see Snow White but the one inside were,

* Princess Jasmine from Aladdin

* Princess Tiana from the Princess and the Frog

* Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast

...Bingo! At least Kimi knows Belle from the recent dvd she has been watching. I realized that I haven't been letting Kimi watched a lot of princesses. A good thing or not, I just don't want her to be too caught up in fairy tales and happily ever afters in such a young age. I do need to let her watch more though since I realized that I had to explain a lot of the characters to her since she doesn't recognize a lot of them yet.

* Daddy and her little princess :)
